True Change Management is the process of helping people adopt a functionally fit ERP system by overcoming natural resistance to change.

But in reality, “Change Management” is often used as a convenient label to justify:

  • Unready ERP products
  • Endless shabby customizations
  • Broken processes
  • Forced sign-offs from frustrated users

If users resist a system that genuinely improves their work, it’s a Change Management issue.
If users resist because the ERP is incomplete, confusing, or misaligned with operations, it’s a Product & Implementation issue — not a people issue.

An ERP should adapt to industry realities first, before expecting people to adapt to the ERP.
